The Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer II # BX88225 is designed for applications where the hitch is 2-1/2 inch sized and you are using a 2-1/2 inch accessory. Whereas the part # BX88312 is for 2-1/2 inch hitches that are using an adapter to then use a 2 inch hitch accessory.
