Curt Trailer Hitch Clearance on 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Question:

How much clearance is there between the lowest/furthest-back portion of the hitch receiver? I have a similar hitch installed on my 2016 Honda Odyssey, and occasionally experience the hitch bottoming out on various driveways. My 2018 Pacifica Hybrid looks to have a little less clearance than the Odyssey, so Im a worried about the potential for even more bottoming out. Also, how far recessed from the furthest back part of the bumper is the receiver pin-hole? One review mentioned that the receiver was more recessed than usual, so Id like to know how many inches there are after the pin-hole before you are clear of the further part on the back of the bumper. Lastly, does this hitch have the extra hole necessary for a J-Pin? If not, is it possible to drill a hole in the receiver without significantly compromising the integrity of the receiver?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13383 is the correct fit for you 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The ground clearance at the receiver tube on this hitch will be 10-1/2 inches at the very bottom of the coupler. You will also want to account for the side plate which is further toward the wheel but will only give you about 8 inches of clearance at that location.

The center of the hitch pin hole is 3-1/2 inches back from the outside of the bumper which will give you adequate clearance with any accessory.

Curt hitches do not have the J-pin extra hole as that is a Draw-Tite brand design feature. However there are hitch pins like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # 63232 which will provide you with the anti-rattle feature but will not require the extra hole like the J-pin. I've attached a video to assist with how this popular item is utilized in the similar way.

Drilling a hole in the Curt hitch is not recommended and would void the warranty.
