Snow Tire Chain Recommendation for 2018 Chevy Suburban

Snow Tire chains for 2018 suburban with 265/65R18 size tires. Are cables or chains better?

Expert Reply:
For your 2018 Chevy Suburban with 265/65R18 tires, both the snow tire chains and snow tire cables will work great in snow conditions. The big difference is the chains will give you better grip in icy conditions because the links will bite into the ice where as the snow cables tend to slide over the ice.
I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 267 # TH01594267 which have great internal clearance so you won't need to worry about your wheel wells. They are easy to install with plastic-coated tensioning sections to even keep your fingers from freezing to the chains and are made of high quality manganese nickel alloy steel to hold up well over time. They also have the integrated anti-scratch nylon bumpers to protect your wheel rims.
If you will only be using them occasionally to stay legal, then I recommend the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair# PW2028C. These basic cable "chains" are easy to install and meet DOT requirements. They won't provide the same traction on ice or be as durable, but they will work well and will be at a lower price point. You will need to use the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters # PW105 to have correct tension on these chains.
