Best Mounting Orientation of WAVT2-WHMAV2 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent

Question:

Most installed on trailers-pictures,,, show the round radiusinch pointing up and the several venting rectangular slotsinch toward the ground. For raminch air flow effect to help keep condensation from forming in Northwest USA climates., i was hoping to mount the rounded radius facing aft and slots forward of the trailer. Question being do you have info on this mounting idea or will it just scoop up more rain???

If you mount the Redline 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # WHMAV2-WAVT2 with the exterior part's flat slotted side facing forward (to increase air flow) there will definitely be a greater probability for rain and splashed water to enter the trailer. Still, as you noted from the customer-submitted photos we show on that item's page some have done this, and surely for the same reason.

If you happened to stay in dry/desert areas this will be less of a concern but since you are in the lush Pacific Northwest where moisture is abundant then I would not recommend this vent orientation. If you like this vent (or the black version # HMAV2-AVT2) you could mount it on the forward-facing surface with the slots facing down and still get fairly strong air flow, especially with a high mounting position.

You might instead consider 2-Piece Side Vent part # 9139 which has an interior baffle that directs rainwater toward corner drain holes. It also has an adjustable interior butterfly vent to let you control air volume.
