Should Additional Ground Wire be Installed for the Prodigy P3 # 90195 on a 2010 Toyota Tundra
Question:
I bought the P3 brake controller for my 2010 Toyota Tundra. The wire harness included with the truck has 5 wires and the controller only has 4. I think I found on some forums which wires hook to which but then the green wire is leftover. It says I dont need that wire. Do I need to pigtail another wire from the ground wire to a grounding point? I notice the plug and play harness you sell has a white pigtail ground wire.

The reason for the additional ground wire on the Adapter # 3040-P for a 2010 Toyota Tundra is that the ground wire on the OEM harness tends to not be very effective.
I am not sure if the bundle of wires will have a different ground wire as opposed to if you had the connector, but it wouldn't hurt anything if you went ahead and spliced in an additional ground wire. It would be less frustrating to do it now rather than install the P3 # 90195 and find that you start having ground issues and have to get back under your dash to fix it.
Attached is a sample installation video on a 2013 Tundra so that you can get an idea of where to ground your additional wire.
