Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch to Fit B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

What capacity hitch would I need for a 5th wheel with a dry weight of 13,500lbs. I am looking for a slider that will mount to my BW gooseneck hitch.

The only way to know how heavy a hitch you need is to find the trailer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) which is its maximum weight when fully loaded. There's likely a tag on the trailer that states the GVWR, or it may say on the trailer's documentation. You may also be able to contact the trailer manufacturer with the VIN to find its specs from when it was built.

As a last resort you can load the trailer and weigh it. Of course this requires you to get it to a scale and you still wouldn't actually know the trailer's GVWR. This is more of a last resort solution.

If you give me the year, make, and model of the trailer I may be able to find some information on it for you.

Since you have the B&W Turnoverbal gooseneck hitch the best fifth wheel hitch to use is the B&W Companion slider, part # BWRVK3400. It fits right into the gooseneck hole.

The Companion has a max capacity of 20,000 pounds so if you find your trailer is more than that then you'll need a different hitch. A good option is the Curt Q25 slider, part # C16566, using the adapter # DM6140 so it fits into your gooseneck hitch.
