Replacement Foam Ring for Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent Part # VP-543SP

Question:

I have had my 2018 Airstream for 6 months. This morning my bathroon vent fan would not function. Upon close inspection, I saw a foam ring, approx 1/4”x1/4” by 9” diam tangles in the fan blades. I retrieved it from exterior. The adhesive side of the ring was partially covered by a wax paper like ring. I had to pull the foam ring out to allow my fan to function. Is this foam ring part of shipping protection or is it necessary for continued operation? If it is required, I must order a replacement and understand how to reinstall. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:

The foam ring on the Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent part # VP-543SP is a weather seal that is used to help seal the dome on the fan assembly. If you continue to use the fan without the foam ring you would be subjected to leaks which could then short out the motor.

If I had to guess I would say that the wax paper was not fully removed from the ring which then caused adhesion problems. Unfortunately, we do not offer the foam ring separately but we do offer the Replacement Plastic Dome Assembly part # BVA0502-03 which comes with the foam ring already installed as you can see in the attached photo. This would be the only option we have for you at this time.
