Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 with Factory Rail Kit

Question:

I have a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 with a factory rail kit in the bed of the hitch that I need a hitch for. My trailer has a Mor/Ryde cushioned pin box too.

For your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 we have the B&W Companion hitches available as a direct fit which we recommend highly. The Companion hitches are considered by most RVers to be the nicest hitches available because of how well they are made, how tight they hold the king pin, and how long they last. So if you have a short bed truck you'll need a slider hitch to allow you the needed turning clearance. For that you'd want the B&W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3770 and you'd be set. If you have a long bed you'd want the fixed hitch version part # BWRVK3700.

I am looking to buy a hitch for my 2019 GMC Hd2500. We are buying a 5th wheel 2015 Bayhill. Why is there a need for a slider hitch if your doing regular driving and regular turns. The slide hitch has to be manually released so don’t really see purpose.

A sliding hitch is used for increased turning clearances in tight areas. They are especially helpful when backing a trailer and maneuvering around gas pumps. Regular turns are normally not an issue when driving forward on roads (although you will still swing wide on right turns), but you will see a significant difference the additional 10-12 inches gives you for cab clearance you likely will need when backing your trailer at various angles. Many of the Bayhill models do have a rounded front to assist with turning clearances, but I still recommend using a sliding hitch to ensure you won't have contact between your cab and the trailer.
