Question:

I have a 2018 RAV4 needing hitch. See you have more than one. Which do you recommend?

For your 2018 Toyota RAV4 I recommend going with a Class III trailer hitch. In addition to having higher tongue and towing capacities, a Class III hitch will also provide you with a 2 inch receiver (instead of a smaller 1-1/4 inch receiver on a Class II) that is compatible with many more hitch-mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers.

The etrailer Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # e98864 is the hitch I recommend for your RAV4. All of the Class III hitches available for your vehicle will mount using the same existing holes in its frame but this particular hitch features has a robust towing and tongue weight capacities (3,500 pounds and 525 pounds respectively) than the alternatives. This will work well for you.

I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

If you are planning on doing some towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118578. This custom harness installs by plugging right into factory ports behind the trim panels in the cargo area and will provide you with a 4-Way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights. I recommend the Tekonsha harness because we hear of far fewer troubleshooting issues with their harnesses than we do with those from other manufacturers. I have again attached an installation video that you can check out.

To tow a trailer, you will also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the right one for your setup along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
