On a 2004 Dodge Ram the trailer wiring circuits are protected by the TIPM of the vehicle which can only be reset by a Dodge dealer. Problem is that it can only be reset so many times and after that requires an expensive replacement. That's why we recommend bypassing it with a hardwired trailer wiring harness like part # 119178KIT. Which you can then wire to the 7-way of the truck.
