Thule Snow Tire Chain Recommendation For 2011 GMC Terrain w/ Optional 19 Inch Wheels

Question:

My 2011 GMC Terrain has the Optional AWD SLT2 19 Wheels with Hankook P235/55R19 Tires. I need to order Tire Chains and Tensioners. Do I Need 4? Think I might. Which Chains and Size or Product Number do I need to fit these Optional wheels/tires??? You dont list them as a choice for the 2011 or 2012 Terrain. Thanks!

When using snow tire chains, mounting the chains to the powered drive wheels of the vehicle is recommended. So, since your truck is rear wheel drive you would want the chains on the rear drive wheels. If driving in 4-wheel drive you could use a set of chains on the front and rear wheels, or just the rear wheels.

Since you have an optional size wheel on your Terrain, you will want to check your vehicle owners manual or with your dealership to make sure it is acceptable to use snow tire chains. Usually with big wheels, clearance becomes an issue with snow chains.

For a 235/55-19 wheel and tire size, I would recommend the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains, part # TH01571247, if you find it is acceptable to use snow tire chains on your GMC Terrain.

You will want to also check your local state laws for use of chains. I have linked an FAQ on tire chains. Also linked is a video review of the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains, part # TH01571247.
