Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2015 Dodge Durango SXT to Allow Full Towing Capacity
Question:
Looking at buying a 2015 Dodge Durango SXT with the tow package. We have a 2600lbs horse trailer that with 2 horses would be around 5000lbs. The question is... obviously thats under the towing capacity but is that acceptable? Or how do I know how much vehicle I need?

The 2015 Dodge Durango SXT model has a 5,000 lb towing capacity most likely due to the trailer hitch rating. The 3.6L AWD has a towing capacity of 6,200 lbs. You will need to make sure your trailer when fully loaded as well as your trailer hitch, and ball mount will be able to handle that capacity.
You may want to consider the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75713 to give you a trailer hitch compatible with the higher towing capacity of your vehicle. This hitch will fit the 18 inch full size spare but is not compatible with a 20 inch spare.
With this hitch, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop, 3-1/2" Rise - 7.5K # BWTS10035B which will give you the capacity you need as well as the adjustability to tow level. I also recommend a locking pin like # e98880 to secure your investment.
