How to Mount Demco Autoslide Hijacker to OEM Pucks on a 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 with 8' Bed
Question:
I was told by the RV store that my GMC Sierra Denali 3500 dually could not accommodated a sliding hitch due to how the pucks were situated in the bed of the truck. The reason I want a slider with an 8 foot bed is that I would like to put an oversized toolbox and need the additional clearance. My question, is that true or were they just trying to get me out of the door?

The RV store you spoke with were correct and incorrect at the same time. The puck systems between the 6-1/2' bed and the 8' bed for your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 do have different measurements so if they only have sliders that fit directly into the pucks it would make sense as to why they thought this couldn't be accomplished. We do have a way for you to use an autosliding 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your 8' bed.
For a 21K autosliding hitch that fits your 6-1/2' bed you would use the Demco Hijacker # DM8550035 along with the Adapter Rails # DM6194. Since you have the 8' bed you can use the same 5th wheel hitch with the Adapter Rails # DM6206 instead.
If you don't already have a 7-Way connector in the bed of your Sierra then I also recommend installing the Demco # DM8555002 which helps make connecting and disconnecting your 5th wheel wiring much easier.
