Troubleshooting a Misswired Prodigy P2 Brake Controller on a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic Body
Question:
I just purchased and installed your Prodigy P2 and the Plug-in Adapter 3025-P. The application is for a 2007 Chevy Silverado CLASSIC [thus the need for the adapter, I was told]. This is a 3500 HD dually with a hitch and round trailer plug assembly already supplied by GM. The trailer is a brand new electric over hydraulic trailer with 3 axle braking carrying a load of 10,000 lbs. My GM supplied wire harness from the glove box is connected to your adapter as follows: My red to your black My light blue to your red My black to your white My dark blue to your blue My brown is not connected Since the P2 displayed a blue .c, I assumed no other connections or modifications needed to be made. I did not use the GM supplied fuse. I have set the controller to the E/H mode, as evidenced by a n.C.inch when no trailer is connected and a .C.inch when connected. WIth such a heavy load, and my inability to verify any hint of trailer braking, I have set the boost to b.3 and a max setting of 14. Neither actual braking or moving the manual lever to the far left results in any hint of any braking. Interestingly, this was also the case when tested before there was any load on the trailer. The brake system on teh trailer was functioning on the vehicle used to make the delivery to me, so I believe the trailer is operating correctly. When actual braking is used iin the vehicle, the controller sometimes displays .C. other times it will display a number. But no braking occurs. Have I missed something? Thank you very much.

Actually for your 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic you would want a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3015-P. The difference between the 3025-P and the 3015-P is the pin locations of the wires on the orange connector. The reason for this is because the orange connector on 3025-P is wired to work on most GM vehicles from 1999-2002 whereas newer GM vehicles have the same connector, just wired differently.
You will need to move the red wire on the orange connector to a different pin location and you should be good to go.
If you are looking at the back of the orange connector and the clip is on the left side you will see that the red wire is in the lower right corner of the connector. You will need to move the red wire from there to the upper left corner pin of the connector and you should be good.
To get the pins out of the connector you will need something skinny like a small slot screwdriver. You will take the screw driver and push up on the little clip on the connector side of the connector, this will release the wire so it will be able to be pulled out of the back of the connector. To put the pin back into the right connector, you will simply push the wire and pin through the back of the connector until the lever clicks into place.
Another option is to order a # 3015-P and just use it.
