Replacing the Car End of a 7-Way Metal Trailer Connector
Question:
I have a plastic 7-Way Metal Trailer Connector, Car End now that is broken. I want to use the metal as the replacement. Can I replace only the car end or do I need to repalce both? Also, how does it wire up inside the plug?

Expert Reply:
You can replace just the car end, if the trailer end connector is not broken you do not need to replace it. You will just need to remove the broken connector and attach the wires to their respective pins on the 7-Way Metal Trailer Connector, Car End, item # PK12703. You can use the wiring diagram on our Trailer Wiring Diagrams page see link to wire the connector to your vehicles wiring. When looking at the wiring diagram keep in mind that we are showing the connection points inside the connector, where the wires are attached. Also, your existing plug should be hooked up correctly, so you could just attach one wire at a time to make sure you are keeping all of the wires straight.
