Recommended Wiring for RedArc BCDC Charger Used for Auxiliary Battery to Power Inverter
Question:
I have the DUAL INPUT 40A IN-VEHICLE DC BATTERY CHARGER by RedArc. What else do I need to set up a dual battery syatem with solar to charge a fridge in the trunk of my SUV, a few led lights, some charging ports for phones and accessories? What gauge wire, types of fuses, fuse boxes, connection points etc do I need. Not sure how to put it all together. Thanks

To connect your Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp # 331-BCDC1240D, you will need the 60-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 40-Amp BCDC Battery Charger # 331-FK60. This will protect your vehicle and battery from potentially damaging overcurrent from short circuits or overloads.
You will run the Red Wire from your RedArc unit to the fuse, and then from the fuse to the positive battery terminal on your vehicle start battery. I've attached a diagram to help with the other functions and wire colors. The solar connection will be on the yellow wire. The brown wire will then connect to the positive terminal on your auxiliary battery. If using two batteries in that location, you will want to wire them in parallel like the attached photo. I recommend using # DW04362 for the wiring connection between the batteries. For your wiring from the battery to the unit and then from the unit to your auxiliary battery or batteries you will use a minimum of 6 AWG wire and the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/Dust Cover - 6 AWG # BDW20047.
Finally, I recommend the Power Inverter 1000 Watts with Three AC Receptacles # WC3720 which will power your fridge and give you the charging ports for your phones/accessories. The LED lights can be run straight from the battery terminals and can use wiring # 16-1-1.

I bought the 40 amp DC to DC Reddarc changer. I will be using it on my 2019 Winnebago Vista 29VE with 170 amp generator and 2 100 amp Bettleborm Lithium batteries. Is there any reason to exchange this for the 50 amp?
