Lightest Weight Fifth Wheel Hitch Solution for 2018 Ram 3500 with Rail Kit for Use with Sidewinder

I have a 2018 Ram 3500 short bed with factory rail kit and want to tow a trailer and install a Sidewinder pin box too, what is a lightweight fifth wheel hitch that will work well for my setup?

The lightest weight fifth wheel hitch we offer that can fit the factory rail kit of your 2018 Ram 3500 short bed is the Demco Recon # DM8550043 which weighs only 100 lbs. You'll need to use the Ram rail kit adapter part # RP30154 but this will be your best option by far as this is the lightest hitch around. Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.

Since you plan to use a Sidewinder the correct wedge to use with the Recon is the part # SWW-05. This allows the hitch to fit better to the Sidewinder and make for an easier connection/disconnection.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
