Weight Distribution System Compatible with 2018 Jayco Octane 273 Travel Trailer
Question:
I just purchased a Jayco Octane 273. Are the torsion bars on the Curt 17333 the correct length for this trailer?

Expert Reply:
Your 2018 Jayco Octane 237 does not require the short bar length of 28-5/8 inches the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Shank # C17333 you referenced offers. However, it will also not be an issue. I recommend hitch ball # 19286 with this hitch for a 2-5/16 inch ball to match your coupler.
If you want a weight distribution system that also has integrated sway control, I recommend the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Active Sway Control # C17501 which will also have bars that will work for your system. The bars will give you better ground clearance than the chain system, and will also provide you with sway control through the frame brackets and spring mounted metal balls.
For the best sway control, I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar # RP66130. You will also need hitch ball # 19286 and shank # RP54970. This system will actively prevent sway with the hot rolled spring bars and cams. I've attached a video to assist.
