Starting with a trailer hitch for your 2018 BMW X5 35D I recommend the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 13077. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will use existing holes in its frame for a no-drill installation. Just note though that some noticeable fascia trimming will be required. I have attached an installation video on the 2017 model BMW X5 that you can use for reference. All the needed hardware is included.
ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This is a universal, hardwire kit that includes everything needed to install a 4-Way connector on your BMW to power a trailer's basic signal lights. I have included the written installation instructions that you can look at as well.

We do not have any specific shop recommendations where you are in Reno or Sacramento. What we usually recommend is just finding a local shop or mechanic with a good reputation. An experienced mechanic shouldn't have too much trouble with these types of installations.
