Does Tow Loop of 2018 Toyota Highlander Get Removed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch

Question:

On installation, The towing piece is removed. Does it then get discarded? The bracket near the muffler that is removed. It is to be replaced between the frame and the Curt hitch receiver. Does it then leave a gap between the frame and the Curt hitch receiver?

When installing the Curt trailer hitch part # C13200 on a 2018 Toyota Highlander like yours there are some lower fascia tabs that get removed as well as a tow loop. The main lower fascia piece gets trimmed and reinstalled. I attached a picture of how it gets trimmed. I also attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

The hitch itself has safety chain loops on it that if you needed to use as a recovery point you could.
