Trailer Hitch for 2018 Ford Escape with Hand-Free Lift Sensor

For your 2018 Ford Escape, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75758. This hitch has a really nice black powder coat finish to resist corrosion, is easy to install, and will work well with your hands-free lift gate sensors. The sensors will be limited to either side of the vehicle near the exhaust pipes as the center receiver obviously will block the center area. I've attached a video of this installation to assist.
If you will be towing with this receiver, I recommend the Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56320 which will install behind the tail lights into factory harnesses. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery. I've attached an article and a video to assist.
For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10035B. This ball mount will give you the adjustability of 6-1/2 inches so you can tow many trailers level. It comes with two hitch ball options as well as has a really nice stowable feature to protect your shins and give you a clean look when not in use. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98880 to protect your investment.
