Would Install of Brake Controller in Truck Cause Damage to Transmission Potentially

Question:

I have an electric control box installed in my f250 diesel, if it were to go bad would it burn my transmission and or brakes up It was installed in 2003 the same year as my truck. My son was using my truck and took my truck into the garage for service work and they cut it loose. They told him that it would do all of the above. I used it a lot when I pulled my camper and other trailers. Thank you!

A brake controller would have no affect at all on the transmission of a truck. We've heard of some pretty strange things said by confused mechanics but this is incredibly strange... A brake controller only helps the vehicle and trailer stop when towing. This prolongs the life of the brakes of the vehicle and also makes towing substantially safer. Removing a brake controller for fear of transmission damage is one of the dumbest things I've heard to be completely honest. If a brake controller goes bad it just stops working. It does not cause damage to anything else. It MIGHT cause a third brake light fuse to blow. But even that's basically unheard of.
