Landing Gear Legs Move Very Slowly

Question:

We have a 2004 Forest River Sierra 29 BHSS. Had a little trouble raising it and figured the motor went bad. I ordered and replaced the motor and the gear box however though when extending the landing gear its as if its bound up, moves very slowly and blows a 30A inline fuse. I can retract it, but with weight on the jacks it just seems to not be able to lift it anymore. Prior to replacing the above parts, it seemed to be a little noisy the last time we had it out. Not much of a warning. Worked fine one weekend, didnt the next. Not sure what to do.??

There are two things that could be happening. The first is that your motor is not rated high enough and the second is that there is something bent inside the jack tube. In order to determine which is the correct problem you have I recommend using the manual override feature on each leg. Do you have noticeable resistance or hear any noise? If so then there is most likely something bent inside the jack tube. If that is the case then you would need to replace it. If the weld stops on your landing gear legs are 15-1/2" (inside to inside) apart then you will need part # LG-179013 for lead leg or part # LG-179014 for follow leg. If the weld stops on your landing gear legs are 19-1/2" (inside to inside) apart then you will need part # LG-177202 for lead leg or part # LG-177201 for follow leg.

If you don't feel any resistance or hear any noise when using the manual override then you will want to add a motor on the other landing gear leg for which I recommend using one with the same RPM you have now. If it is a 5,430 RPM then use part # LG-196308. If it is not 5,430 RPM please let me know what it is and i'll see if we have the correct one for you.
