Troubelshooting No 12 Volt Power at Trailer Connector

hi i have 2012 amarok. the 7 pin plug doesnt seem to have acrive power to the aux point to work my 12v lights inside of my caravan. can you tell me why this is? do i need to wire it up or should it be active from factory?

I can't say for sure if it's normal for the 12 volt pin to not be active on a 2012 Amarok since they aren't marketed in the US, but I can tell you that most vehicles with a factory 7-way have 12 volt power.
I'd start by checking the fuses. Look at your owner's manual to find which one it is.
If the fuse isn't the problem you can bypass the problem and just run 10 gauge wire using part # 10-1-1 from the 12 volt pin at the rear of your VW to its battery. You want to put a 40 amp circuit breaker, part # 9510, inline with it close to the truck's battery.
