Should Blue Wire be Tested if Prodigy P3 # 90195 Isn't Outputting Full Power with Manual Override

Question:

Getting a low output voltage out of my tekonsha p3. Only showing .1-.11v full gain and lever all the way over. Should I go ahead and cut blue wire and test there or is the displayed voltage going to be what it is coming out of controller? Tested blue wire on trailer side of pin and it is getting power but is very week. Thank you.

Cutting the blue wire from your Prodigy P3 # 90195 is still a good idea in this instance as it will indicate if you have a short between the controller and your 7-Way that is reducing the output. Typically the controller will notice a short and display a message saying so but it is possible that it may not be detecting this.

If you are still getting very weak power then I would try testing the black wire going to the brake controller. This should be a full 12V as that goes directly to your battery. If this is low then that wire is the issue and needs to be replaced but if it is a full 12V and the controller is not outputting full power the controller will need to be replaced.
