Weight Distribution System Lift Brackets Loosen and Bolts Bend
Question:
I have a WD system, but when ever I tow one of the clamps which mounts to the frame of the trailer always loosens up or the bolt bends. Are there different size clamps to fit to the frame of the trailer?

If the bolts are coming loose or bending it could be that the trailer is too heavy for the weight distribution system you are using. You will want a system with a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses the trailer tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow.
Gear loaded in the tow vehicle behind the rear axle will also need to be factored in when calculating tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight.
If you find you have the correct system, take a look at the installation torque specs to make sure you have tightened all the hardware correctly. Also examine the hardware for damage. Do not re-use damaged hardware.
On a Reese system like # RP66074, the lift brackets are designed to fit trailer frames up to 2-1/2 inches wide. If you have a tall frame, you may need to switch to Chain Hangers, # RP58305, which bolt to the side of the frame. In order to achieve the required amount of tension for your weight-distribution system spring bars, you will need to jack up your trailer when hooking up the weight-distribution spring bars if you use the chain hangers. They fit on frames no wider than 2-1/4 inches.
