Installing Interior Lights in Box Truck With Switch

Question:

Back again. I have a 40ft commercial box truck. I want to install led lights in the box. It appears the only power available comes from the cab and is tied into the headlight switch. I want to run a seperate line with the on and off switch in the box, not in the cab. this was a used commercial truck. What are my options? Thank you!

You can do exactly what you are looking to do by running wire such as # 12-1-1 from the 12 volt power and then simply wire a toggle switch such as # PK34513 with your LED lights such as the Opti-Brite LED Interior Light # ILL08COB.

You will also need some Butt Connectors # DW05745-10 to join the lengths of wire.

How do I hook it up to 12 volt?

You would just need to wire up the lights to an available 12V power source, whether that's directly to the positive post of an auxiliary battery, via the 12V pin on a tow vehicle's 7-Way, or in-line with the tail light circuit wire on the tow vehicle. Using 12 gauge wire like # 12-1-1 for this will work great. If you can tell me a bit more about what you're trying to do I would be happy to provide a more detailed solution.
