Will Curt Trailer Hitch # C13316 and Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Work on 2017 BMW X3
Question:
We have a 2017 BMW X3 and are looking at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack. With this combination, will the upright rack position clear the bumper and will the tilted position allow the rear hatch door to open. In other words, is there a length consideration for the hitch receiver that we need to be aware of? Thanks!

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13316 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2017 BMW X3. We haven't gotten a chance to install the hitch on this vehicle yet, so I don't have an exact hitch pin hole to bumper measurement. With that being said, when the hitch is installed it looks like the receiver will pretty much sit flush with the rear bumper (see attached customer picture of hitch on 2017 BMW X3).
When the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # NV22G is folded up against the vehicle for storage, there is a distance of 7 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. With this measurement and where the receiver of the Curt hitch sits on your vehicle in mind, there will not be any interference issues between this rack and the rear bumper of your BMW. As you mentioned, this rack can tilt away from the vehicle for easy rear cargo access and you will indeed have the needed hatch door clearance when it's in this position. I have attached a short video demonstration of this rack on the BMW X1 that you can also take a look at.
