Troubleshooting 1998 Wrangler Lights Not Working With Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit

Question:

I installed this kit on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler. When I connected the vehicle to my 2003 GMC 2500HD to test out the lights they did not work. The Jeeps lights work fine when turned on. I checked for power and ground at the back side of the 6 way I mounted on the front of the Jeep and it had both. When I go to back of Jeep where I added the diodes I have no power at the diode from the harness. I grounded my test light on the Jeep body and not the white ground wire. Is it because my white ground wire is not properly grounded at rear of Jeep? I tested tail lamp power and ground out of my trucks 7 way plug all the thru the 6way on the Jeep and they were working fine.

If your 1998 Jeep Wrangler's lights are not working with the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 and you do not have a proper ground then the lights are not going to work properly.

You are going to need to attach the ground wire with the ring terminal and self-tapping screw directly to your Jeep's frame in order for all of the lighting functions to work properly.

Also keep in mind if you are using a supplemental braking system such as the SMI Stay-IN-Play # SM99251 you are going to need to use the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay # RM-88400 to to keep your Jeep's brake signal from overriding the RV's turn signal when applying the brakes during a turn.
