Can Brophy Hitch Extender part # ST18 be Used to Tow Trailer that Weighs 4,800 lbs

Question:

Im curious what the best option would be for being able to lower the tailgate on my 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5/TRD w/ tow package so that I can place a golf cart in the back while hauling my travel trailer camper. I already use 90-00-0600 Equal-i-zer hitch, but need to extend it away from the truck to lower the tailgate to get the golf cart in. The GVWR of the camper is 4800lbs with a hitch weight of 445lbs. Towing capacity on the truck is 9800lbs with a max tongue weight of 980lbs. It appears that Brophy Hitch Extender with Step - 2" Hitches - 18" Long - 6-1/2" x 17" Platform # ST18 would work but want to be sure.

Expert Reply:

If you used a weight distribution system with the Brophy hitch extender part # ST18 this would work well as it would give you the extension you need and would have a capacity of 7,000 lb.

For a weight distribution system then that would be properly rated you'd want the part # RP66541 and you'd be set.
