Where Should Pivot Arms be Placed for B&W Companion on 2015 Ford F-350

Question:

The height adjustment is easy to figure but I am interested in the distance in front of rear axle. The 3300 has 2 settings, 1 inch in front of axle and 3 inch in front of axle. I am thinking the 3 inch setting will distribute the load better and improve traction on steeper ground as well as maintain better steering control. The trailer is considered 1/2 ton will tow it GVW 10180 Pounds with hitch wt. of 1380 pounds. I have a 2015 Ford F350 Turbo diesel and would like an expert opinion re: the in front of axle setting for the BandW 3300. Thanks

Realistically, you can position the pivot arms of the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 3" in front of the axle (closest to the cab) or 1" in front of the axle (farthest from the cab) when installing it in the factory puck system of your 2015 Ford F-350 and the difference you will notice is minimal, if you notice it at all.

The placement of the pivot arms has more to do with clearance for your trailer than steering control or load distribution, but no matter what setting you use, the Companion # BWRVK3300 is considered by many to be the best fifth wheel hitch on the market so you should have a great towing experience using it.

How much clearance is required between the "open" handle and the front if the bed for the BWRVK3300? Trying to see if my toolbox in my 2015 F350 short bed will work with the hitch.

The handle, when in the open position, extends about 11" back from the rear of the Companion's head. So if you take this measurement up from the front pucks on your F-350 this will show you about where the handle will reach.
