Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2017 Passport Ultra Lite Grand Touring
Question:
We just purchased a 2017 Passport Ultra Lite Grand Touring 22foot travel trailer, model 2200RBWE. GVWR 6500 #s, UVW 4482 #s, CCC 2028 #s, GAWR 3500 #s, Hitch Weight 600 #s. We are towing with a Chevy Silverado LT 1500 with towing equipped and we have installed air bags. We are unsure what size and sway bar we should purchase. What are the specs and dimensions etc. that we should look for? Thank you,

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Since your tongue weight is 600 lbs then the best weight distribution we offer is the Reese Strait Line part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features the best sway control that works to fight sway before it starts. Since you have air bags already the trick is to inflate them to the desired PSI and then set up the WD system.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
