Recommended Platform Bike Rack for 2017 Infiniti Q50 With Class I Trailer Hitch
Question:
I plan on installing the Draw Tite Hitch 24931 on my 2017 Infiniti Q50 to use with a hitch bike rack. Is the Draw Tite Hitch 24931 compatible with the Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4inch ? My rationale behind installing a hitch is that I want to use a platform hitch bike rack rather than a hanging bike rack to protect my bikes finish.

The Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH23JV is compatible with the Draw-Tite # 24931 trailer hitch that fits your 2017 Infiniti Q50 and you are certainly right that a bike racks that secure your bikes by the wheels like the T2 Pro will help protect the finish of your bikes.
The only potential issue is that when the T2 Pro is folded up, the closest part of the rack measures 5" from the center of the hitch pin hole and when we test fit a trailer hitch on a 2014 Q5 we found there was roughly 5-3/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the Infiniti's bumper. This means you may not be able to use the folding feature of the T2 Pro.
What I recommend instead is checking out a bike rack that is very similar to the Thule in every way, including price, but has a little more room for you to work with. The Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Rack # BA12B measures 7-7/8" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when folded up, and is 10-1/2" to the closest part of the rack when folded down.
The NV 2.0 is also compatible with a Class I, 1-1/4" hitch, holds your bikes by the wheels to protect their finish, and can be tilted down - even with the bikes loaded - with the press of a handy foot lever. It does not require any tools to install into your hitch as you'll only need to turn a knob to tighten the rack in the hitch; this also works as an anti-rattle device so you can get a quiet ride. The NV 2.0 comes with a hitch lock to secure the rack to your Q50 and a cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack and help protect your investments.
