Can Rear Hatch Open with the Yakima EXO Cargo Carrier Installed on a 2017 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
Looking at the Yakima EXO cargo carrier. I show dogs and the newer cargo layout to this Tahoe my 2005 was much better for cargo precludes me from loading all my equipment in it for transport including 2 large wire dog crates for dog transport. I need somewhere else to put equipment without interfering with the use of the lifting tailgate to get the dogs In/out of crates several times a day while going cross country. The internal size of the carrier seems to be enough room for all loose equipment/items, but it is a must that I can open the liftgate all the way open to have access to the doors on the crates. Is this product the solution? Also when not needed, how does one store this product? Is it removable from the hitch assembly so it can be placed flat on the garage floor?

The Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR will allow you to open the rear hatch on your 2017 Chevy Tahoe when the carrier is attached. It swings out and away from the vehicle on the passenger side give you full or almost full access to your Tahoe. It is easily removable when not in use, but the entire system does weight 97 pounds.
If you needed more room, there is a double version # Y74ZR. This modular system can also swap one or both of the enclosed carrier for an open one if that would more suit your needs.
I have attached a review videos of these carries for you to see them in action.
