Availability of Hitch-Mounted Motorcycle Carrier for 2004 Kia Amanti
Question:
Do you guys have a motorcycle carrier that would fit a 1 1/4 inch receiver for a 2004 Kia Amanti. Just need to haul a 2005 KLX 125 to and from the track

Expert Reply:
The motorcycle carriers we have available are only compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers. This is simply because a 1-1/4 inch receiver typically won't have the capacity needed to carry a motorcycle in this manner.
The only trailer hitch we have available for your 2004 Kia Amanti, the Curt # C11450, is a Class I hitch with a 200 pound tongue weight capacity. Based on my research, it looks like your 2005 Kawasaki KLX 125 has a dry weight of right around 180 pounds. Since you also have to add in the weight of the carrier itself, it's very unlikely that your hitch and vehicle will be able to handle the weight of your motorcycle with a hitch-mounted carrier.
Because of this, the best and safest option for transporting your bike is going to be with a small trailer like the Detail K2 # K2MMT5X7. You will still want to check your copy of the owner's manual for your Kia Amanti to see if it is rated for any light-duty towing.
If you decide to go this route, you will also need a trailer wiring harness with the Tekonsha # 119178KIT. This will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with and power the trailer's signal lights. I have attached the installation instructions that you can take a look at.
For a ball mount the Curt Drawbar # C45521 along with the 2 inch Hitch Ball # A-82 will work well.
