How to Install the ETBC7 Kit and Adapter 22292 on a 2016 Ford F-150 with OEM 4-Way Connector
Question:
2016 ford f150 xlt, my question is once the wiring is connected under the hood and I want to connect to the brake controller do I just use the connector in the package and connect it to the blue wire in the harness after going through firewall. which I also purchased. this is after the black wire is connected to the battery. I am guessing that the black wire run to the battery after the fuse hook up on the firewall will also power the brake controller even though it does not run to the brake controller itself. the video mentions keeping extra wire for the hookup to the controller but does not go into detail as far as how and what needs to be done. I purchased this part due to my truck not being wired for a 7 way hook up it only has a 4 way. I hope I have not over complicated this question. I notice several fuses for mount on firewall but the video only identifies 1

Great question! I apologize for the current video of the 2016 Ford F-150 not having a brake controller installation but unfortunately that customer didn't want the complete installation. We do have a video of the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 being installed on a 2014 Ford F-150 though which is exactly the same and features the Prodigy P3 # 90195 being installed with the same Plug-In Adapter # 22292 that you purchased.
The steps you mentioned are exactly right. The blue wire is the only connection that you will need to hardwire into the adapter that you have. Reason being that the OEM wiring on your F-150 will already be sending power to the brake controller so additional wiring isn't necessary.
Some vehicles don't have this OEM wiring installed so when that is that case some additional wire from the battery to the brake controller will need to be run in-line with one of the extra circuit breakers that you are talking about. Since this is a universal wiring kit not all the pieces will be used for every application (as you have found out).
In addition to the video, I have attached a few helpful articles for you to reference.
