ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire With Load Range D for Hi-Lo Trailer

Question:

The rims on my Hilo are rated for 1460 lbs currently have a st175 /80 d13 tires rated for 1360. Want to fog to the same size but in a radial with a d load range . Does this make any sense since the rims are only rated for 1460 . I have a dual axle do I multiply by four to get the max load. Thanks

Rims and tires can have different weight capacities but each does need to be rated for at least the GVWR of the trailer.

In terms of multiplying the amount of tires to get their maximum capacity, you are correct; since you have a dual axle trailer you do add the capacities of all four tires to get the max load.

For example, you mentioned wanting a ST175/80R13 radial tire with a load range of D, which we do have with the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10210. This has a maximum capacity of 1,610 lbs at 65 psi, so four of those would have a capacity of 6,440 lbs.
