The Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller - Trailer Mount # 3430001 does require brake assemblies like the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA or the 12 inch assemblies # AKEBRK-7-SA for larger capacity axles.
You may also need a separate breakaway kit like the Hopkins Engager # 20099. A safety system like this is required in most states for trailers weighing more than 3,000 lbs.
