Recommendation for Short 2-Bike Rack to Use with Class I Hitch on Kia Forte

Question:

I am looking for a 2 bike rack. The problem is the outer cradle can only be 17inch from my rear bumper. I bought a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4inch Item # C11368 from you in May. This dimensions does not show up on your specs. Can you help?

We have a large selection of 2-bike racks that will work well with the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11368 that you have installed on your 2017 Kia Forte. There isn't going to be a 2-bike rack available that features a total length of less than 17 inches, as this wouldn't allow for enough space for the two bikes to sit side-by-side. Are you needing the 17 inch maximum distance for clearance with something like a garage door?

One of the shorter 2-bike racks we have available is the Lets Go Aero BikeWing-2 # LGA54FR. This carrier features a unique V-shaped design that features a distance of 26 inches from the hitch pin hole to the furthest part of the rack. Depending on how recessed the hitch receiver is on your Kia Forte, the distance from your rear bumper will be even less than this. The BikeWing-2 is compatible with your Class I hitch and can handle 2 bikes of up to 40 pounds each.

You might also consider a hanging-style rack like the Thule Camber # TH9058. The arms on this rack can fold down when not in use to greatly reduce any clearance issues. The farthest part of the rack with the arms folded is just 16 inches from the hitch pin hole. If the hitch pin hole sits out in front of your bumper, this might work.

I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on these bike racks that you can also check out.
