Quiet Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier for a 2012 Honda Civic with Moonroof

Question:

I have a sunroof that slides back and opens the roof. Will that affect the type of roof rack I get? Also, My husband bought bars for his rack and they are noisy from the wind when driving. I want something quiet.

It sounds like your 2012 Honda Civic has the moonroof option. There are indeed roof racks that will fit! If you have a 4-door Civic then I recommend Rhino-Rack roof rack # RR32MR.

Both of these roof racks feature aero bars, which will be the quietest, and feet integrated into the ends of the bars which creates less drag, and thus noise, than other styles. Any roof rack will make noise but the style of the above racks will make the least noise.

If you have a 2-door there are no notes or tips on a moonroof (I don't believe it was an option for the 2-door) so I recommend Inno rack # INXB108-115 for the bars, # INXS200 for the feet, and # INK642 for the fit kit. This system also features aero bars and feet integrated into the ends of the bars.

For a kayak carrier that will work with any of the roof racks above I recommend Rhino-Rack carrier # S512. This is a J-Style carrier that also folds down when not in use. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
