Hooking Up Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole # 20036 To 2002 Ford Windstar

Question:

I have a problem because the possitive wire is not the wire being switched by the backup circuit switch. It is the negative ground wire instead. I think I might need a relay to make this work. What do you think?

The item you selected, Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole, part # 20036, will give you a 5-way connector on your 2002 Ford Windstar.

The extra blue wire should be connected to the reverse light circuit. You will want to use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993 to locate this circuit. This wire will power the reverse lights when the vehicle is in reverse. You will want to connect to the wire that only has power when the vehicle reverse lights are illuminated, this will be the wire you will connect to.

If your reverse lights are not illuminating when the vehicle is in reverse, there is a possibility that there is a blown fuse or bulb.
