Recommended Heavy Duty Replacement for Kwikee Series Steps
Question:
I have a 2011 Allegro 43foot Bus QGP. My steps just malfunctioned and I am working through the recall issue with Lippert. Im considering just replacing my steps. Do they make a more heavy duty version of the same type that will fit my rig. I am not a small person and a 300lb rating may be pushing the limits. More important, I want to buy the right step once instead of going through what I am with Lippert. Thank you for your assistance.

If weight capacity is the primary concern then you will want to take a look at the SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps as there is not a heavy duty version of the Kwikee Series Steps. The Kwikee Series are almost all rated at 300 lbs whereas the SolidStep is rated at 400 lbs. This will be the best replacement for your Kwikee Series as they install in an odd fashion that most other manufacturers do not make replacements for. The SolidStep install in the doorway so the odd mounting of the Kwikee Series can be bypassed entirely. You also do not have to worry about electrical and mechanical gremlins like the ones you are dealing with now when switching to the SolidStep.
If your doorway is 26" - 29-7/8" then you will want to use part # LC791572.
