Where to Find Stoplight Circuit to Install Brake Controller in 2018 Toyota Tundra

Question:

My toyota dealership tells me if I install brake controller it will void my warranty if they ever trace problem back to controller. Even though they are the ones installing it. I have taken it to two different hitch shops and they both informed me they could not find the wire. I am so confused.

Sounds like you are looking for a circuit for the red wire of a brake controller which is for the stoplight circuit to tell the controller when to apply the brakes. For your vehicle we actually haven't gotten confirmation on what the best way to find that is. One solution is to use a stop light switch kit like the part # RM-751452 which attaches to the brake pedal to give you the circuit you need.

Or sometimes the third brake light circuit can be used on the truck. Hopefully we have a more definite way to find the stoplight circuit soon. (as of July 2018).
