Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2015 Chevrolet Traverse
Question:
I was hoping I could just use 118450 to plug into my existing tail light sockets but got concerned when I saw support discontinued for MYs later than 2011. Ive seen the kits that use the factory TOW connector but have also read I need to ensure Ive got the right relay/breaker box under the hood. Im not looking to draw a lot of amps ... simple trailer brake / turn signals only. Am I going to have to run a wire from the battery? I do not want to inadvertently trick the ECU into thinking I have a taillight out / etc.

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits.
For your 2015 Chevy Traverse you need to install a harness that draws power from the battery to protect the taillight circuits. For that you would need the part # C56181. I also attached a help article on running the power wire for you to check out as well.
