Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 1999 Jeep Cherokee

Question:

I am planning on towing less than 4,000lbs cross country and was interested in the Timbren front and rear suspension upgrades. TJFC01, and TJRC01 am I correct in the assumption that both are replacements for the stock bump stops ? The tow limits for both suspension enhancements are less that the overall total towing capacity of the car what are your suggestions and comments ? I may be misunderstanding the items description

Expert Reply:

For your 1999 Jeep Cherokee, the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TJRC01 and front suspension # TJFC01 are confirmed to fit your vehicle. Both install where your factory bump stops are and help with the stability and load of your Jeep. They help reduce body roll and keep your Jeep from squat under the trailer weight.

They are a big help when under load and won't engage unless you hit a big bump when unloaded. They are a firm aeon rubber material, so if you want a softer ride you may instead consider the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for Jeep - Rear Axle # SSR-402-40. There is not a front mounted option for this brand but that often isn't needed unless you are adding weight to the front axle with a winch or grille guard.

The capacity of these springs is rated for how much load they can help support and are based vehicle weight as well as trailer tongue weight and cargo. They are rated less than the towing capacity of the vehicle because they only deal with the vertical weight.
