Do Both 4-Way and 7-Way Hot Leads Need to Be Ran on a 2017 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Do I still need to run the 4way hot lead to the battery after converting it into a 7way. I saw on the installation video and manual of the 7way wiring after completed, there are only two wires connected to the battery positive post one for brake controller and the other from the 7way plug. What happened to the 4 way hot lead? I have a 2017 toyota sienna se.

Yes, the 12 volt power wire on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56106 which is a fit for your 2017 Toyota Sienna SE will still need to be ran to the positive side of the battery terminal when combined with a 7-way wiring harness like the Curt Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # C57186. The reason for this is because the power wire on the 4-way harness is designed to help minimize the power draw on the vehicle's electrical circuits whereas the power wire on the 7-way harness is used for accessoires on the trailer such as a breakaway battery. The 7-way uses the circuits from the 4-way which is why both power wires will need to be ran to the positive side of the battery terminal.
If you also need a brake controller then I recommend the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV with the Universal Wiring Adapter part # C51515. This is a proportional brake controller that adjusts the trailer's braking based on the deceleration of the tow vehicle.
