Question:
Hi - is there any modification that needs to be made to the muffler or muffler hangers or is the install as simple as removing the plastic coverings and bolting on the hitch. I am only asking because I was not sure if this is a task I can undertake or need to make an appointment with a local shop to have installed. 2018 Toyota Highlander thank you again. PS this is a great website with a lot of detailed pictures and information

Thanks for the kind words and the simple answer to your question is no modification needs to be made to the muffler or muffler hangers when installing Curt hitch # C13200 on your 2018 Toyota Highlander, but there WILL be trimming of the underbody panel required.
I have attached part of the instructions which shows you what will need to be trimmed in order to install the hitch. Apart from that no other modifications need to be made; I have linked the installation instructions for you to check out as well so you can get a better sense of if this is something you are comfortable undertaking yourself.
