Available Multi-Camera Hitch Aligner and Observation Camera Systems
Question:
I want to permanently mount a camera on the vehicle for hook up and a second on the trailer for backing up. Is there another unit altogether that might be better suited for this use?

Yes, since we have many types of backup and observation camera systems we can help you with a dual-camera model that will give you the kind of visibility you want for both hitching your trailer and safely backing it up.
If you prefer a complete stand-alone camera system that includes its own viewing monitor then I suggest the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614. This complete setup comes with a 7-inch color LED monitor, 2 moisture-resistant and shock-resistant color cameras that include infrared night-vision capability and all the wiring connectors and mounts needed. The linked video will walk you through the whole kit.
Their similar 2-camera system # RVS-776614-213 includes the same monitor and has all the same included wiring and connectors, but it adds a third camera that can be mounted on the passenger side of the trailer to give you visibility into the other traffic lane. The third camera can, of course, be used for another purpose such as viewing horses inside a horse trailer. A video for this setup is linked too.
The budget-priced camera systems typically cannot accept a second camera.
