What Does Recessed Trailer Hitch Mean on a 2015 Honda CR-V
Question:
What does slightly more recessed than usual mean? Is there a drawing showing the rear edge of the CRV bumper versus the receiver opening, fore to aft eg, the recess distance?

The recessed hitch pin hole tech tip simply means that the trailer hitch sits further back under the vehicle than most trailer hitches so you will want to be sure that you have adequate clearance with any of your hitch mounted accessories. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper with the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver part # E98868 on your 2015 Honda CR-V is 2-1/4".
I have attached a photo of this for you as well. The distance will not be a problem from the majority of bikes racks and cargo carriers but it is something you will want to keep in mind. If you need a bike rack or cargo carrier recommendation that will work for you then please let me know and I would be happy to provide you with options. I have attached an install video of the hitch.
