Best Fifth Wheel Hitch for Towing a Grand Design Reflection 295RL With 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Question:
Im looking at buying a 2019 Grand Design Reflection 295RL. My truck is a 2016 Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel and does not have the fifth wheel prep package. The Reflection 295RL claims to be able to make 90 degree turns without a slider hitch due to the RV unit having a turning point swivel box. The Anderson Ultimate hitch ads looked intriguing, however, I dont know if this is a realistic option or not. With this information, which hitch and hitch rail would be my best option?

If have a great 5th wheel option that will work for you, however, the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System with Adapter # AM3200 can only be used with fixed pin boxes. The design of the Anderson Ultimate Hitches would create two pivoting points when used with the turning point pin box. You only want one pivot point when towing. As a result your best option is using a fixed 5th wheel hitch.
One of our lightest and best 5th wheel hitches we have is the Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550043. This hitch has a 21,000 lb towing capacity, it comes in two 50 lb sections for easy install and removal and has less rattle than most traditional fifth wheel hitches. This hitch installs with industry standard base rails like the Demco Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches # DM8552000-71
I have attached a review video of this hitch for you as well.
If you do not already have an in-bed wiring harness for your 5th wheel trailer then you can add one using part # 50-97-410. I have attached an installation video of this harness on a similar truck for you as well.

Looking at the Demco Recon for my 2016 F250 Diesel Super Duty. I’m pulling a 2019 GD Reflection 295RL with TurningPoint. I’m currently using the Reese 15K hitch. I’m looking to improve the hitching/unhitching process (usually a pain with the Reese). Since I already have the Reese bed rails, can I re-use them with the Recon? Is there anything else I will need? Thanks!
